Female Recording Initiative
Did you know that in 2022 women only comprised 14% of all songwriters and 3.4% of all producers? And those are higher numbers than the statistics from the last 10 years! As a female-founded arts organization, that doesn't sit too well with us!
Sisters in the Studio is an initiative we started in 2022 to get women in the studio to record their original music at no cost to them! This program aims to provide female creatives with the resources they need to succeed and shift the gender imbalance in the music industry.
Our first round of this program was a huge success, and we were able to help three artists record and release their original singles! We hope to continue this program once further funding is secured. Stay tuned for more information and follow us on social media for updates!

2022 Artist
Monika Nova
Monika Nova is a first generation Polish-American from Brooklyn, NY. Originally classically trained, Nova studied at the esteemed Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and the Performing Arts, where she established an impressive performance history and began to develop her unique style. With strong Folk, Rock, and Soul influences, her work features delicate harmonies against the backdrop of her signature, sultry lower register. Nova hopes to enrich the catalog of love songs produced today by examining all the different types of relationships which move and impact us deeply. Raw and powerful, yet poignantly restrained and intimate, her artistic presence demands reflection of our deepest connections with one another, as well as our commitment to ourselves.

The Laura The Melissa
The Laura The Melissa is a sister duo comprised of Staten Islanders, Laura and Melissa Casertano. They both grew up singing in choirs and musicals, eventually pursuing music degrees of their own. It wasn't until recently, during the lockdown, that they finally decided to work on that sister duo project they've always talked about. Laura & Melissa's sound combines their influences of pop, indie-rock, folk, jazz, and musical theater styles along with lots of dissonance and harmony!

2022 Artist
Shannon Delaney
Our youngest participating artist, Shannon Delaney, is a singer-songwriter from NYC who began writing songs from a very young age. She released her debut single, "Safe and Sound", in December 2020 and has continued to pursue music, spending her time writing and recording in the studio. She draws inspiration from artists such as Billie Eilish and Julia Michaels and their influence is reflected in her own work. Shannon has worked to build up her fanbase, gaining a fair amount of attention and support across social media.
Shannon recorded and released her single, "Make It" as part of our 2022 "Sisters in the Studio" recording initiative.
